In a recent interview, Jon Watts confirmed the age of Peter Parker in the new Spiderman reboot and you can let out that sigh of relief because No, we will not have to watch Uncle Ben die......again! Well now that we can finally relax, (there are only so many times you can watch that before it gets really old quick) it seems the story will focus on Peter Parker right after he gets his powers, while he is still in highschool. Yes, he will be 15 years old. I'm still not 100 percent sure how I feel about this, just yet. I mean, for me, Spiderman has some serious sex appeal.....but now that Spidey is now a MINOR... I'll have to regroup and rethink my favorite webhead on the silver screen. Thankfully, I'll have Deadpool to keep my dirty thoughts occupied.
You can catch Spider-Boy in Captain America: Civil War which releases May 6, 2016. The Spiderman Reboot is not due to release until July 28, 2017.

If MJ and Gwen in a band together wasn't enough to wrap your head around, the creators have thrown in another one of Peter Parker's loves in the mix as well. Notice Felicia Harding and the Black Cats poster in Issue #2 of Spider-Gwen. In the next panel you can see a poster for The Mary Janes plastered next to it.
My sources tell me that my Spidey sense is right, Felicia Hardy will make an appearance in issue #5 as rival "Lady Gaga like Pop Star" who has it out with MJ on a regular basis (rawr)! I can't verify this, as I have not read the issue myself, but my sources have been pretty solid so far. I have to admit, I'm secretly excited that Black Cat is going to be in this series. That is about the only thing that excited me about reading the next few issues though. The only thing that is seriously lacking is the webhead himself; Peter & Spider-Gwen (AND MJ& + Blackcat) OH the potential drama and scandal.... I should calm myself.
I'm pretty excited to see Felicia Harding in the series, no exactly what kind of role she will play is still unknown. On a side note, Matt Murdock is Kingpin's right hand man in this series and Frank Castle works alongside Captain Stacy and has it out for Spiderwoman (Spider-Gwen). It seems I will have to pick up the next few issues of Spider-Gwen to see where this story goes. I'm still waiting for Marvel to wow me.......still waiting Marvel, but there is potential.

Day 2- I'm back to recap Spider-Gwen #2-3. Yesterday, I left you with my first impression after ready Spider-Girl #1 and Edge of Spiderverse #2. Last night I had a chance to read issues #2-3 with hopes that something would resonate with me and make me want to keep reading (I wanted to love this series as much as Renew Your Vows). I'm not quite there yet, but there is still hope.
I wont go too far into detail with the content of the issues, as I want you to be able to enjoy them yourselves, I also have two more issues to catch up as well. My spidey sense started tingling when I seen this and it seems I was right. (more on that below)
look out-here comes the spider gweeeeennnn!
I was pretty excited when I seen this at Hastings a while back. They only had issue #2 so I decided to wait and order it from my local comic book store. (Support your local comic book store!) Today, I stroll into my favorite comic book store to pick up my order and sweet...Spider-Gwen #1-3 were there in the back waiting for me (seriously I love the guys at Akuma's Cave). So I grabbed a quick lunch and headed back to the office so I can tear into this new series.
Naturally when I picked this series up, I assumed it would take place somewhere after Gwen's death, I wasn't sure how she would fit in to the Marvel Universe, but I was excited to find out. I read through it quickly and was completely lost, apparently this issue did not explain her origins or any backstory what so ever. I did not read Edge of Spider-Verse and it quickly became apparent I needed to before I could start Spider Gwen. First off, this is one of Marvel's alternate realities again. Don't get me wrong, I love what they did with Secret Wars, but this one didn't quite do it for me.
Since this issue does not cover any of Gwen's past or her origins, I had to go back and read Edge of Spider-Verse #2. In Spider Verse, Gwen is bitten by the radioactive spider, not Peter. Peter is bullied a lot and Gwen is the one who stands up for him. Leave it to Mr. Parker to feel left out and he basically goes all Dr. Conner's and turns himself into a giant lizard. (sound familiar?) Ultimately, Peter dies, not Gwen. The real shocker here is Gwen is in an all girl punk rock group with Mary Jane..... What's the relation here? MJ and Gwen, in a band together? I'm about just as lost as you are on this one.
Once I was caught up on this SG origin story, I re-read issue #1. I'm not completely impressed so far, but I have two more issues to read to convince me otherwise. It seems Gwen is tormented the same way Peter was with how to handle so much responsibility at such as young age. She has it out with not only villains but NYPD and MJ is being...well old school MJ (kinda a stuck up bitch). I think with alternate realities, part of you has to let go of what you already know (or should know) about the characters, this is a difficult one for me. I'm going to dive into Issue #2-3 and then we will see where I stand on Spider Gwen and whether I will end up loving the series or tossing it much like I did with Spider Island #1.
